Welcome! My name is Rosalia, and I was born and raised here in the Pacific Northwest; land of rain and all things coffee. As "Auntie" to 26 beautiful nieces and nephews, I so desire to have a hand in helping children grow to be sensitive, strong, bold, and bright. After 7 years of teaching private piano lessons, I wanted to broaden my horizons and skills to reach more families and offer something that would effectively help parents to best know and nurture their kids; and thus began my Kindermusik journey. Kindermusik is a music and movement program for children ages 0-7 which caters to each child's whole development while viewing the parent/caregiver as primary educator in that child's life. We have a blast learning through play and exploration in preparation for life and formal music instruction!
Through piano lessons, I aim to teach students to enjoy the art of making music with effortless technique, creative interpretation, and overall music literacy--all through critical thinking and problem solving. My hope is that these students will learn how to excellently self-teach, become lifelong lovers of music, go-getters, and upstanding leaders in our community.
I am member and Vice President of the Gig Harbor chapter of the Washington State Music Teachers Association. I have received 16 years of private piano instruction including 2 years from Dr. Tanya Stambuk (from University of Puget Sound). I completed 2 years of Music Theory courses at OC as well as participated in various recitals and competitions offered by the Gig Harbor Music Teachers Associations. Learning and improving remains a priority for me as I frequently attend lectures and read works by respected music educators i.e. Forrest Kinney, Dr. Jeanine Jacobson and Lucinda Mackworth-Young (to name a few).
I am a licensed Kindermusik educator and continue to seek out education and new research in child development.
